  • I'm Back!??! Be afraid...be very afraid...

Well, after 6 months of using an Nvidia GeForce2, I opted for a G450. Got tired of squinting to read the text and tired of grainy looking graphics (both web and the stuff I work on).

Don't get me wrong, the GeForce is a nice card...if all you do is games. Fast, good driver support from Nvidia for Win2000. But when it comes to 2D work (on a Gateway VX900, which is essentially a Hitachi 751) on a 19" monitor, and the text and graphics looks like something my dog did...you get the idea.

About the only thing I'd ask is that Matrox work on the D3D speed of their Win2000 drivers. Mechwarrior 4 runs o.k. at 800x600 and choppy @ 1024x768 (the Nvidia card screemed at these resolutions).

LOL ... welcome back to the clearer side ...

But don't expect the G450 performing at G400 levels.

        To the Maggi,
is there coming some tweak utility that
allows to clock core speed to the same as memory speed like 195/195MHz ?
What You think how much it would improve
        performance compared to 155/195 ?
        Just curious.

yepitsme, we haven't beta tested a MSTS Util OC for the G450's yet.

What Greebe said, but I would expect quite a gain in things like polygon output and rendering of lights/shadows where calculating power is needed more than memory bandwidth ...

... and, as Jord already mentioned, there's no need to use an article before my nickname ...

I'm mean, basically you're right, I'm the Maggi (at least in these halls), but no need to give me titles, mate.

                LOL

                        Howdy, cputnam.

Got a friend that needs to read your post. He's got a Compaq with a ATI LT something that he is not happy with. Wants me to change his vid card, and guess what he wants...

He was over at another friend who has a TNT 2 card and he says that looks better than his ATI. I want to bring him over to my place and show him my G400. Actually I'd like to sell him my G400MAX so I could get another that does AGP X 4...or maybe not.

I think he'd be happy with a regular 32MB G400, what do you think?
