G 450eTV - Realtime Compression

I want to buy a G 450eTV.
Can I capture mpeg2 realtime ?

Is there no time after capturing to compress ?

How little is 1 hour movie-file (Mbyte) ?
What compressions-rates are available (1:X)?
I´m from Germany, can I buy the card in USA ?
How much it cost ?

According to Matrox, you'd need a 600MHz CPU for MPEG2 capturing, so what are your system specs ?

That CPU power is only for half res. The cpu power to capture for full res is still not fixed yet but so far, we are looking at atleast on an 800 if not higher.

Hi Steve,

here's what's included with our card with regards to the video portion of the card:

Dual monitor

yes

Web video stream

This isn't dependant on the card. As long as you have a card with a video input or have a usb cam, you can do it. We are currently running a video server in tech supp with the Marvel G400 but you can do it with any card.

Nope. The ligos encoder won't take advantage of multiple CPU's.

1. to the last theme (multithreaded): Paul, I hope you know about taking software from the internet, search the lingos encoder, download it ( and crack it) : Noone had hear I ´ve say about cracking.

The Hauppage WinTV-PVR is no comparison as it does mpeg enc/dec all in hardware where we are doing enc/dec in software.

You can read about it here:

Becuase we are using a software codec, you would need a 600Mhz CPU to capture half size (including timeshifting).

To capture full size, it isn't confirmed yet internally but you will need at least an 800Mhz cpu. This will most likely change to a higher CPU speed.
