• G450 and 3DMark and scores

I bought today G450 with 16Mb SDRAM and
it scored as i expected, could someone else
post scores just to compare them, Madonion
don't have G450 in their database yet.

640x480 - 3767
800x600 - 2685
1024x768 - 1700

P3 800@896
AOpen AX6BC with 128Mb/133MHz

waiting to GeForce ultras to become cheaper,
maybe next summer, if there is nothing else interesting coming up....

overclocking G450 would be nice

Wow0.......

That 1024 score is about half what I can score with my G400 32MB Vanilla @ 160/200 on a P3-650.

Man-o-Man...............

ABIT BF6, Pentium III Katmai @663MHz, GW VOS32 Cooler, 256MB Crucial 7E SDRAM, Quantum Fireball Plus LM, Matrox G400 DH@160/200, Enlight 7237, 300watt TurboCool PS, and some fun with a Dremel!

Y0our scores look low to me. Although I haven't used a G450, my G400 can get greater than ~3000@1024x768 with 3dmark2k. The number I am quoting you is consistent with other on here as well.

You probably have the 64-bit SDR memory, instead of 64-bit DDR that the other G450s ship with. That would explain why your results are about one half that of what the G400 users are reporting (G400 uses 128-bit SDR memory).

Speaking of which, does anyone know how to tell which is which? I have an OEM G450 16MB that came in an anti-static bag marked "G45+MDHA16D". I'm guessing the D on the end denotes DDR. I don't have any benchmarks though.

The trailing "D" probably does denote DDR memory, but you can tell instantly just by looking at the memory chips on the card - DDR memory has pins on all 4 sides, while SDR/SDRAM has pins on just 2 sides.

I think Ashley is incorrect. I would bet my next trip to McDonalds that he has SDR SDRAM on his card.

Really, he does

Not that Himself needs any more backup, but.. My G400 at stock Mhz gets 3136 Marks at
1024 (the default test)

I would think that you'd be able to atleast break into the Mid 2g's .....

If you guys really want to give a fair comparison, just clock your G400's memory at half speed, then run 3DMark 2000, because this is basically what is going on with his card.

I think his scores are probably pretty close to normal for a SDR G450.

Stringy...I don't think Himself needs any backup in the first place, since the scores he posted aren't even Matrox hardware scores. He's just tootin his little 3dfx horn (although you'll notice there are no AGP test scores in his post, since they would make his card look bad )

Both the G450 and the V3 2K have 16MB of ram, just thought it would be an interesting comparison. Toot Toot!

Yes, the 3dmark 2000 AGP scores do suck on the V3, about as bad as the TNT 1 I had before the G400, a lot of that has to do with there only being 16MB of ram on the card, the rest being the fact that it doesn't do DIME. Do I care? No. I don't have any games with 64MB of textures per scene, and I rarely play 3dmark 2000.

Himself,

how are your 32-bit scores (hehehe)

Besides, TNT 1 doesn´t have bad AGP scores at all. I had the STB 4400 for a while and it had very good AGP scores. It´s a matter of configuration.
And AGP has nothing to do with onboard RAM, it´s a bus protocol.
That´s why your voodoo sucks, it doesn´t support AGP texturing.

My G400 does have only 16MB here as well, and I don't consider the AGP texturing results that bad.
