  • Which BIOS for vanilla G400 - 107 or 109

Hank Kimble, there should be a readme text file included with the bios. read it carefully, as it tells you exactly what to do to update the card's bios.

Actually no, it doesn't tell you what BIOS matches what video card. I checked the readme file before I flashed my BIOS for my vanilla G400. More than likely, Hank wants to do what I wanted to do, and that was flash the video card in DOS mode.

Not knowing which BIOS to flash it with, I resorted to using the windows flash utility(yes Matrox makes one that is safe to do so). The windows flash utility choose 1.9-33 BIOS for my OEM SH 32meg G400. Works like a charm.

So, if you have a OEM SH 32Meg, choose 1.9-33. Which, according to the BIOS notes on the matrox web site is 897-19.bin. But if I were you, I'd stay on the safe side and let the windows utility flash the video bios.

    I hope it helps,
    PeterV

        Which BIOS for vanilla G400 - 107 or 109

        Hi:

I want to update the bios on my vanilla G400. I program manually so I was wondering which to use version 107 or 109.

        Thanks,

        Hank

since you have to flash your G400 anyway, use the latest BIOS - 2.03 (2.0MB). if you look at the top right of MURC homepage you will see the link under latest.

            Thanks for the reply:

If you download version 2.03 and decompress it you will find a number of *.BIN files. These are the BIOS files. Since I manually flash my bios, I was wondering which to use: 897-107A or 897-109?

            Thanks again,

            John
