  • Audio monitoring during capture

Does any of the video capture guys has any experience with real time audio level check during video capture.
I mean it is a little bit frustrating, that the recording level not can be monitored during the capture process. But you must stick to the fact that you only on the rear edge realize that the audio level has been recorded on a wrong level, when the just generated avi file is inserted in the video editors time line. I know it's possible to open the windows volume control and watch the very primitive "bargraph". But it's only in mono, and it's very primitive. So my question is: Does anyone has a simple, not very CPU consuming application, that displays the current audio level as a bar or a "vu meter".

the newest version of avi_io has a vu-meter, very good.

Mike, do the VU meters work while the raw footage is being viewed (prior to capture), or do they only function during the actual video capture?
