  • Marvel G450 eTV is out

    Hi guys!

Now I have in fornt of me a full page advertising announcing the Marvel G450 eTV.
It's in the Spanish edition of PCWORLD magazine.

It comes with a pic of the card. The TV-Tuner is built-in inside the card, and it seems there is no external box for conexions.

It also says of a new function called "Timeshifting" is implemented.

Don't count on it until you see a physical board in your hands.

Currently there is a battle being waged about whether M should throw resources at this low-end Video Editing card or move on to the next Gen card--the G800 and its flavors, which promises to be the next real leap in technology.

Why should Matrox devote production resources to this niche market product which REQUIRES a PIII 600 or instead devote its resources to a truly NEXT generation mainstream/high-end product. The G450 (Standard--NOT ETV) will serve its niche...in OEM high performance packages for IBM, HP, and other integrated system packages.

C'mon Matrox...that'll be your bread and butter...and that's fine. Move on with your cutting edge reputation and make something truly inovative for your flagship product.

Sure, sure. You'll make more money stamping out 450's for OEM's...but the 800 will PULL your customers to your name brand...either 450 OR 800. You'll never succeed in PUSHING your customers into a version upgrade of your g400 without another higher-end choice which validates your approach and technology.

    Think about it.

take note that in spite of the publicity, it's not listed on the Matrox European online store for sale yet.

Actually, there don't appear to be any G450-anythings available from anyone, anywhere.

        Ditto re: G450-equipped OEM boxes...

yeah Time shifting is very cool. It's almost worth buying for just that feature. But a G666 with time shiftig would be cool.

With time shifting you can watch "Sliders" and it's even MORE realistic.
