marvel g400 and bussmastering on aopen ax59pro

when i turn on bussmastering the system crashes all the time when bussmastering is off it's rock steady.
I have try'd every thing i have read in this and Matrox's forums and nothing is helping

Bus mastering has to be disabled if you are to get any sort of stability on your machine. I don't think there's a fix for this, and disabling bus mastering causes the G400 to be reaaaally slow.

NOT true.

If you are having to disable BM, there is something wrong. You should not have to disable it. Fixing this problem is just a matter of tracking down what's causing it.

To start with, you will need to give a full system specs and a complete list of IRQ assignments for your system.

Damn that's a long system spec list (not even in English ). The IRQs look good, no conflicts or sharing with your G400 or SB Live! Let's see if anyone knows how to fix this, because I used to have the same problem but I never found a solution.

This is Matrox Hardware forum. People come here to find solution to problem, not to avoid problem. I wonder if you would ask your clients to use MS-DOS, if they tell you Win98 is not stable.

Bus Mastering should *NEVER* ever be disabled.

"VGARTD" is in the registry. Search for it in registry and remove every occurance.

What's your mobo revision? Older revisions come with MVP3 revision CD which will not work reliabliy in AGP 2X. Force to 1X if needed.

SBLive! may not like low IRQ as G400 does. Try to put it in IRQ12 to share with PS/2 mouse, or IRQ10 with USB.

Recommended CMOS settings:
Load BIOS defaults
Plug and Play aware OS: Yes
Assigned IRQ to USB: Disable
Assigned IRQ to VGA: Auto/Enable
AGP Aperture: 64MB or 128MB. Most VIA mobos don't work with 256MB.

If you're using Win98SE, only install VIA AGP drivers. I would suggest you not to install from 4-in-1. Sometimes, the 4-in-1 installation installs the AGP driver from the path \AGP33 which is BAD.

If you're using Win98, install both AGP and IRQ router drivers. I always use standalone version instead of 4-in-1.

I would try to get the SB live on a busmaster IRQ (9-15). Perhaps you can use a USB mouse to free up IRQ12.

Please try what is suggested to you. These suggestions are tried and true, and there is more help if you still have problems. Yes, some ss7 will experience total system instability when there are misconfigurations. These have to be the most picky type of problems.

I will also chime in with my own advice, which has helped numerous people. Try the following in order:

Download the latest VIA 4in1(which, it looks like you have), Download the Matrox 5.2 drivers, download the uninstaller utility from Matrox (you can also find this on the matroxusers front page). Run the uninstaller, reboot. Choose standard VGA when prompted. Install the latest VIA drivers (even if you had already done so before at sometime) IN NORMAL MODE. Reboot, goto your bios screen, find "read around write" and disable it, find "write cache pipeline" and disable it too (both are found under chipset features setup, I believe). Boot into windows. Install the 5.2 drivers, reboot and go into windows. You should be good to go, now just adjust your settings and reboot, and you should be happily running along. If you feel lucky, you might try re-enabling "write cache pipeline", to see if it makes any difference.
