  • G200- Millennium vs Mystique for WinME

I am still having freezing problems with my G200 for my WinMe installation (will go back and play with AGP and IDE driver installations again). Going to the Matrox Certified Drivers page, I noticed that the 6.04 drivers are the certified drivers for WinMe and G200 Millennium but there are no certified drivers listed for G200 Mystique (my card) and WinMe. In fact, the certified drivers for Win98 and the Mystique are only 4.33 while for the Millenium, it is 6.04. Does this mean I should use the 4.33 drivers for my Mystique with WinME?

A related question- are the 6.04 drivers the latest drivers or are they simply older drivers that have been certified and renumbered? To put it another way, is the Matrox latest drivers page correct in stating that the Beta 6.01 drivers are the lastest drivers for the G400 and the 5.41 drivers are the latest drivers for the G200 series?

    Thanks.

hi, there is no difference with mystique and millenium... only major thing is mystique has tv output... and there are other small diffs too.....

but basically, u should use the latest, 6.04 drivers...

and the 6.04 are both new and certified.... if it was a certified version of lets say 5.55, it probably would have been called 5.55c or something like that.... im not sure why matrox's website is like that, the webmaster probably just made a booboo(mistake)....

    hope that helps

I'm not sure about Win98ME, but for Win98SE the 5.41 drivers combined with MGA tweak are the fastest if you want gaming performance. If you want the most stable, use the 6.0x drivers, but these will not overclock. Another thread claims that the 6.04 certified drivers fix a memory leak that the 6.01 had. You might try the 6.04's for that reason alone.

There is a small difference between the Millenium and the Mystique. The Milleniun uses a slightly faster RAMDAC, but I have no idea why this would make a difference in Win98ME compatibility.

Is that specific to G200? 'cause they overclock fine with G400 MAX and MGATweak.

The most I've been able to overclock the 6.01's is about 3%. The 5.41's will overclock about 20%. I got the same results on both my G400 and G200 as far as percentage increase. Even overclocked, the 6.01's are only as fast as the 5.41's at normal speed. Sisyfos, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Let me know your results.

At default MAX speed I get 3474 in 3DMark2000.
              OC'ed I get 3877.
It was the same with 5.55, 6.01 and 6.04.
Sorry, I have no REAL life bench numbers.

              My specs:
              Asus CUSL2
              P3 750@1005 (1.85v and GORB)
              2x128MB PC133 Apacer (2,2,2 5T-7T)
G400 MAX (with the P3 HSF strapped on, YIKES!)

MGATweak settings (highest I can get without "white spots").

Note: The 64MB didn't run. Wether it's the i815's max aperture of 64MB, WinME or the drivers, I don't know.

                Sisyfos,
I'll try again, but you have me beat on CPU by a country mile. I'm using a K6-3 450 on both the G200 and G400. On the G400 I'm getting about 1805 on 3dMark2k overclocked to 150/200 and about 1760 with no overclocking. The last time I tried 3dMark2k on the G200, I was in the high 900's but could never break 1000. So I just left it there.

                Phil,
If you are still around, what have you tried and what have been your results?
