  • G400 + k62 or Voodoo3 + k62?

    I just got a K62-500 computer. Now
I need a graphic card to go with it.
I am inclined to go for a G400 but
i have heard the voodoo3 may be a
better choice. Any K62 users with
G400 and Voodoo3 out there willing
    to comment?

G400+K6-2 = awesome quality, great features, I could play any game out there at a resonable framrate on my k6-2 500(I played counter strike everynight).

Voodoo3+K6-2 = I don't know since I've never owned a Voodoo3, but you will definitely see faster gaming performance. I've also heard that the visuals are not as appealing and keep in mind that voodoo3 is only 16bit.

What is you main purpose for the computer?

I use the computer for 60% work and
40% games. I play games to relax
I have a Matrox Mystique which has served
me very well, so I am kinda inclined
to stick to matrox. BTW, how is the
opengl ICD and turboGL? R they any good?
What sort of performance do you get
      on your K62?

        Hi. my systems are:
        1:
        amd k6-2 500
        matrox g400 d/h max 32mb + voodoo2
        128mb ram
        2:
        amd k6-2 350 clocked to 400
        voodoo3 2000 pci
        128 mb ram

the 1st comp performs much better than the second (even when i put the 500 in it), the v3 2K is great if you want to play glide/openGL orientated games, but if you want great visuals stick with the matrox and pop a voodoo2 alongside, then you have the best of both worlds, on the plus side of matrox, you get d/head capability and better bump mapping (my personal experiance)than the v3
