  • g400+via apollo pro problem

I have g400 and zida tomato BXv98 AT mobo. I use latest drivers and 4in1 4.23 and w98. When w98 starrts, it freezes. i tried another graphic card and it works ok. Then I try marvel g200 and it is same as G400. It seems, that it doesnt work with any matrox card. I have latest bios for g400 and mobo. I tried change bios configurations and used older drivers for g400, but results are same.

    Hrrm, Via chipset. Thats trouble.

Alright, use PD 5.30 + TGL 1.0. Disable video bios caching+shadowing and 100/133 spread spectrum modulation in the bios. Make sure the card has its own IRQ. Use the Matrox Technical Support utility to force AGP 2x, that seems the most stable with me. Try 1x and 4x if 2x doesn't work. Remember to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones.

You could either have a hardware conflict that you need to fix, such as IRQ sharing or using two slots that shares their resources, or you are loading 16 bit drivers with your OS which is causing your card to crash.

I get g400 on IRQ 11 and it works. Only this IRQ. But I must disable pci irq streeming to get matrox to IRQ11. Now its ok

I too have had this agp x1 issue. Again it is the VIA chip set but this time on the Gigabyte GA-6vX7-4x.
I have the at the moment just the AGP G400 installed (I am using the on board sound chip).

With the new 4in1 driver (4.23) and using the Matrox tweak utility, I can get the rating upto x2. But then Anything that uses GL drivers has random flashes everywhere. Quake III is very bad...

I am also using the new G400 driver (6.something).. I suspect that I cannot have both...

Later I will try the new 4in1 drivers with an older G400 driver. I think I have most stored somewhere. Any suggestions on whioch one I should use?
