  • g200 bios update fails

When trying to update my g200 agp's bios from 2.6-20 to 2.7a, I get an error. The windows utility just says 'error'. The dos utility says 'unable to access eeprom'.
Neither version disabled my card, luckily.

I'm using win98 4.10.1998 with latest updates, matrox 5.52, k63-450 w/via chipset and latest 4in1 installed (sans ide driver).

I did a 'restart in dos mode' for the dos version. It id'd the card and serial # and current dos version ok

First, I'm surprised you got the 5.52 drivers to work on your machine. Most K6/G200/VIA machines crash in Direct3D games with them. Use either the 5.41 or 6.0 drivers instead.

Second, if you are having trouble undating your bios, see Jorden's bios update FAQ file here:

    and see if that helps.
