  • Slow games/3dmark on my new PIII 700Mhz & G400Max...

I just got my new PIII 700E Mhz.

    Quake3 Demo1, 1024x768x32, everything on best except; Biliner=on.
And I only get 28.2~31.4 FPS. Isn't that little slow???

    3DMark 2000 (ver. 1.1):
    2464

    System Info:
    PIII 700Mhz
    ABiT BE6-2
    192Mb PC-100 Ram
    Matrox G400 MAX
    SB Live! Value

Running a P3-700@903 here, 3d mark 2000 1.1 = 3328 on Win2k. If high 3d marks are wanted need to go to a Nvidia offering.

The recent P3 700's overclock very well, something else to consider.
Mine has been at 903 since it was installed, no issues at all.

      You have a G400. Not a V5 or Geforce....or even a TNTU. This is usual performance. I get 21fps in Quake 3 in NT5 1024X768X32bc HQ.

It seems to me that my G400Max, on a P3-450 (@558) was getting higher framerates than that, DosFreak, so I don't know exactly what you mean. Especially the TNTU thing. ROFLMAO at that reference.

My G400Max was always faster than the TNT2U in Q3A in this box- I inherited a TNT2U from a friend, which I compared to the Max in my 450 before deciding that it was an okay card, just not up to the Max. So it was in my wife's system until recently, when I got a GeForce2 for mine, and moved the Max to hers.

That seems a little slow in 3dmark, maybe.

My athlon 700@800mhz and vanilla G400 gets about that same score.

          If I overclock my G400 I can get ~3200 on 3dmark.

I get 2380 3dmark score on my rig!
            And i can get 2400 if i oc my 550 to 616!

Thanks for the back up there, Technoid. That's what I was trying to get at. My max may not be the fastest card around, but it still does pretty well, especially given its age.

3DMark just sucks when it comes to benchmarking. No-one should ever benchmark anything with it.

Well, there's one use for it; that demo-mode looks quite nice...

Dr.Matrox, a problem is there some where.
I tried my G400 on 2 CPU's at alot of FSB speeds.
                      a 533Mhz Medocino Celeron @533/600/980 and a 566Mhz Celermine@850Mhz.
now, the 533Mhz Medocino at 533Mhz (66Mhz FSB) gives me 32.1fps at Quake3 1024X768 MAAX Settings (Triliner: OFF).
Are you using TurboGL? and what driver set?
"Excuse me for butting in, but I'm interrupt-driven..."

Are people mixing win2k with win98 here?!? Win2k's drivers are slower that win98's in 3dmark!!
