  • G400 in AGP 2x and AMD 750 (or 751) Irongate, works??

    Hi All!

Does G400 suffer about same problem as GeForce? (Geforce cannot use 2x AGP in Irongate motherboards.)

I am about to buy Asus K7M -motherboard and I have G400 SH (I would love to have Asus K7V (KX133 chipset), but Slot A Thunderbird doesn't work with it.)

so, does G400 work in 2xAGP mode with Asus K7M motherboard?

    Thanks in advance...

I have been thinking of my update 2 months now and I am not going to wait anymore.

First I was buying K7 700MHz with K7V, but at this morning I looked local dealer's webpage and there it was: Slot A Athlon TB 700 MHz 1590,- (finish marks)!! Then I looked for the Old Athlon And Guess what? It costs 1690,- (finish marks)!!

So it is Obious that I am going to purchase Thunderbird.

Actually I just visitted at AMDZone and there they have tested KX133 mobos with Slot A Thunderbirds. In 7 cases of 10 System runs perfectly (with maxium prosessor occupation.) All Setups with Asus K7V runs Perfectly. So I am going to give a try for 700 MHz TB and K7V with G400 SingleHead.

    Thanks to everyone about help.
btw, does anyone know how this will end? I can post did it work when I've got system up and running. Anyone interested??

Please consider waiting a bit before buying a K7M, and maybe wait for a KT133-board.

While it is true that the AMD750 can run a Thunderbird, there will be very few SlotA T-Birds, most will be SocketA.

Besides you will be missing out on 133MHz Ram, AGP4x etc.

But other than that my G400Max never had any problem running AGP2x on my K7M, though I did have to use the reg hacks to force it.
Why would I send my pants to New Jersey?

the g400 has no probs with agp2x here, everything runs just fine and fast. Do not buy a via board, they are crap, trust me.
And for the PC133: The irongate at 110Mhz FSB+Super Bypass is just as fast as a KX133 with PC133 Ram.
