  • G450 first picture

    Its all here
    http://www.matrox.com/mga/feat_story...hiprelease.htm
Everything I say is true apart from that which is not

Well, the picture of G450 is quite the same, as we saw at MURC Forums a couple of months ago, even that "done on Photoshop" blue processor on card is in place. It seems, that Matrox had the final version of the card for the very long time

      Hi Guys,

I know of that old picture and it didn't have any sort of cooling on the G450 chip ...

I was wondering if this would be a picture of the final retail version and if this latest revision would have cooling or not and if it has, what kind of (active/passive)

Unless Matrox updsdates this page http://www.matrox.com/mga/partner_su...twork/home.htm
I fear we can only stick to speculations.

      ...

please, let it come without cooling ...

      Cheers,
      Maggi

        Maggi,
I doubt it'll come without cooling, Matrox does their little {"done on Photoshop" blue processor on card is in place} with all their press photos of cards...

just look back to the press photos of the G400....

Looking at the picture Maggi posted above, the day I opened up my m3d box came back to memory.

Opening up a huge box, and having to look around inside, almost with a microscope, to find your videocard

Why are those boxes so darn big? And what are we extra buying in such a box, besides obviously expensive Canadian air?

            Jorden,
If you had seen what the shippers did to my G400 box you would be thankfull the boxes are big.
In one place the outside of the box came within 1cm of the pcb after they squashed it.

              Okay Chuck,
So in your case the shippers now have to guess where the videocard is hiding in that big box

Screw T&L, get a tiled architecture first, it makes sense to go tiled first for a lot of reasons, the main one being avoiding immediate rendering and overdraw. Not much point in T&L if it has to transform and light the same vertex many times or convert your code to fit whatever cache scheme is in a paticular card.

                      Tiled architecture?

Tile wouldn't look right at all.

Ok, so I took the day off and I'm a little bored right now

Still not impressive enough to warrant spending any more money on a Matrox card til they actually offer something i'm interested in. I'll have to pass on this "buisness" card.

do you also have a closeup from that PCB ?

I'd like to see what kind of cooling the G450 has ...

I'll buy that G450 as soon as it hits. T&L is still useless right now, so I'm in no hurry for that. I'd LOVE to see Matrox try to pull of tile-based rendering, but from what I understand, it's *very* difficult to do properly. Kyro has the definite leg up there. Any due date on this G450? I want one the day it hits.
