  • Display Corruption

I just put in a G400 32MB in my sister's machine. But in Windows, I get display corruption (similar to what you get when you overclock it too far). I see it as soon as Windows starts. It also happens in DOS and POST (wrong characters are displayed), but the problem doesn't appear until the machine has been running for a few minutes. However, I am using a fairly old monitor, so that may be the problem.

    The card is OEM.
    Part# G4+MDH4A32G

    Hello,

Sorry this is not really a solution post.
I also had Matrox G400 that assembled in China, serial KBX85542. And ALSO cause me a trouble.

    My problem:
It produces some black lines when rendering something. This black lines not realy a disturbance, but I just don't like to see black lines 'dancing' on bright object (sky, walls, etc.) when playing games.
To reduce these black lines I reduce my G400 Memory Clock downto 150 MHz. So now I use 150/150 setting. And these black lines still appears.

Well, I guess G400 cards that assembled in Chine had such a low quality.

    About your problem:
It looks like that something needs to be 'warmed up' in order to work properly. Something got to do with HEAT. Check your CPU power supply in case of bad power transistor in the circuit inside.
Please refers to a qualified technician to do this.

    About IRQ's :
Matrox is on IRQ11 (as usual for most video display).
Disable your SB16 Emulation will frees up IRQ 5, and what does SB16Emulation for anyway??

    Thanks for your attention.

    My Systems:
Pentium II 350 (can u believe somebody still use that??)
    Iwill BD100 (BX440)
    96 MB Visipro PC100 SDRAM
    Creative SBLive!
Harddisk, modem, casing, fans, etc, etc..

Could be heat. I'd take it back.

I don't think it's heat, but a bad card or corrupt BIOS, as I had one like that before. If you still have warranty from where you bought it, bring or send it back and ask for another card...

Well, its probably not the BIOS, I just flashed it to 1.09. I doubt its heat, since I get it when I first turn on the machine. Guess I'll bring it back and get another.
