  • 5.52 drivers -are they still beta?

Hello. It's been ages since I've been at the MURC. Just bought Thief 2 and I know I have to get rid of my 5.41 drivers. It's a shame because they've been great!
Are the 5.52 still beta? Stable? Are there any quirks I should know about?
    TIA

They are still not WHQL Certified, therefore still beta, but they are Very solid, especially on a BX system like yours...

I haven't heard of any quirks....

The 5.52 drivers are not beta drivers. Not being certified is not the same as beta.

Just because they are not MS certified does not mean they are beta, just that they are not MS certified.

5.52 is a final release, non-beta package. It works very well on BX based systems.

Thank you for the info. I was wondering after the first reply, since the last WHQL driver was only 5.20.
As a total aside: Looking Glass Studios, the geniuses behind System Shock I & II and Thief I and II, are kaput! I think that a moment of silence is in order.

I successfully loaded in the 5.5.2 drivers (without any extra TGL). 2D is great and Thief looks absolutely incredible.*Thankyou Matrox*
I know that to prevent shearing etc the monitor refresh rate should match the card's output. Does anyone know if the 5.52 drivers
have substantially altered the card output?
I am assuming that Vsynch is still disabled with the 5.52 drivers and that Vsynch should NOT be an issue with OGL regardless.
I am now seeing heavy offset horizontal bars when the point of view turns, even with a single tap of the arrow key,in HL, using the 5.52 ICD.
I have already cleared HL and intend to remove it from my system anyway but I am concerned that I have not properly configured my computer or installed the drivers. Thanks.
