  • HP VL8 With G200 Video & OGL

This is closest category I could think of to ask this question. Toting the virtues of my G400 got me into this one.

An aquaintance has an HP VL8 with onboard video, Matrox G200 chipset. P III 450 w/64MB RAM. They say it won't run 3D Studio Max or Quake II in OGL. I asked and they are using the HP provided drivers in Win98.

I will have to look at this "thing" soon so my question is does anyone know if the G200 will or won't do OGL apps in this HP configuration?

A REAL G200 would have no problem with with q2 in OGL with any of the PD5 series drivers. 3DSMax might be better served with D3D on a G200.

BUT...Since it is a built-on-the-mobo video setup, standard G200 drivers won't work on it. You will be restricted to whatever HP has available. Check their website, and see what their latest version is...
