  • Dualhead : Problem with Photoshop... HELP !!! PLEASE !

    Hi everybody !

I have a problem with my Marvel G400-TV under Photoshop 5.5 and After FX 4.1 .

I've bought this graphic card to work with Photoshop : I want to have in fullscreen, on my TV, the picture I'm working on...
I think it's possible cause i've seen it on the matrox site :
    http://www.matrox.com/mga/feat_story..._interview.htm (the 2nd picture)

I've found a solution but it's not enough for me : I used the Zoom function in the window of photoshop. It's not enough cause it's usefull only if you have a 4:3 ratio picture... and i'm working on 720*480 (NTSC) or 720*576 (PAL) pictures for DVD interfaces...

If you have some tips to configure my card... welcome !

Thx a lot !!! Please help me !

      Hi Varior,

using the zoom option is already a step into the right direction.

What you need to do is edit your Desktop TV settings (size & position) to get rid of the black border surrounding your picture or even simulate/create an overscan (to check whether your menu is still in title safe).

I hope you were not keen on using the G400's DVD Max mode in conjunction with PhotShop ...
That won't work, because of DVD Max being based upon video overlay being automatically streamed to your TV in fullscreen mode.

BUT: in between each layout phase, you could quickly render/compress your title into an AVI while maintaining its actual size and as soon as you open up the 'movie' (consisting of your menu only), DVD Max pops in and shows you what to expect when having it finished for DVD mastering.

      Got my point ?

DVD Max only for video overlay.
ZOOM mode while working in Photoshop.

      ...

Now about 4:3 ... I presume you're about to generate menus in real 16:9 aspect ratio, but the zoom is only adjustable in 4:3 ratio, right ?

I have no solution at hand, but a workaround if that helps.

Generate a picture in Photoshop using dimensions of 1600x900 pixels.
After finishing first layout, scale it down to 768x576 (unproportional).
Generate an AVI (I recommend Indeo 5.1 btw)

Open up the AVI and watch your TV switching from Zoom to DVD Max and enjoy your (true) 16:9 menu.

      Help enough ?

If not, feel free to mail me in case I'm too slow in answering your posts in here ...

      Cheers,
      Maggi

          oh ... LOL ... that picture ...

they seem to use PhotoShop on the primary display while the secondary shows some video in DVD Max mode.

That article is about multimedia authoring and not only PhotoShopping ...

          Cheers,
