  • Help!! G400 in Win2K won't work properly

    Hello all-

    Has anyone seen this-

I just upgraded a WinNT4 machine to Win2K- I also switched motherboards and added an OEM 16 MB G400 dual head card.

It works fine in VGA mode, but anytime I try to switch it to something else, the screen is all garbled. I also notice that Powerdesk is not running.

I first installed 5.06, then 5.04 and then 5.03. No luck with any of the Win2K drivers.

Has anyone seen this? I could really use a pointer- I'm visiting relatives and have to fly out tomorrow!

    Thanks!

I have yet to see a completely successful W2k upgrade. I would really suggest a complete install.

Right now I'm trying to replace the bios.

I noticed from running the windows bios updater, it's trying to flash the non tv-out G400 bios (single head)- this is a dual head card!

Is there any way I can force the 1.5-11 (latest dual head) instead of 1.5-22 (latest single head) ???

      Thanks!

No, non-tvout does not mean not DH...it means DOS TV-out. It requires a bios flash if you want to enable DOS TV-O. Let it do it, you probably don't want DOS TV-O. It will still work as DH, and do TV-O in Windows...

Yeah, I found that I had the bios backwards (-11 and -22) (in my mind, not on my card- the card was correct...)

Still no luck, I'm about to try it on a different computer under WinNT4 and Win98. It doesn't work on two different computers w/ Win2K.
