  • vcd creation problem

There is a "VideoCD" option in iFilmEdit
which must be checked or else it will
produce a .mpg which VCDC or Nero will spit
back at you. Annoying feature, but true.

  • #2
I tried that, but Nero keeps saying that the mpg file is has invalid stream and the vcd created will not be v2.0 compliant.

    What Nero are you using? I tried 4050, 4061, 4070 and 4075.

    it drives me crazy. :-(

      Let's make sure those MPEG's are VCD compliant before presenting them to your VCD software;

      MPEG-1
      352x240 NTSC/288 PAL
      Video data rate: 1123 kb/s
      Audio data reat: 224 kb/s
      Audio sample rate: 41.1 khz
      Audio mode: stereo

If your MPEGs are coming out with anything but this you may have problems.

the mpg files _ARE_ accepted by NERO _BEFORE_ I have them cut or joined in either iFilmEdit or Jiao VCDCutter.

The way I figured out now is to cut AVIs, encode them and then join mpgs by dos copy. However, it is very sluggish to work with 2gb AVIs (if i had smaller I'd had even more work with joining them), etc...

          vcd creation problem

I'm stuck again with putting mpg clips together. I can cut mpegs and put them together but NERO 4.0.7.0 nor Easy cd creator 4 like the output files. I did the cutting and joining in iFilmedit and vcd cutter. Both produce non vcd 2.0 compliant mpg files, I guess. :-(

When I take the original (uncut) mpg file produced by panasonic mpeg1 encoder, nero 4.0.7.0 processes it withou complains...

          help, please...

This subject is indeed a problem
I can edit an avi in MSPVE5.2 and then convert to video ready Mpeg1 and join in iFilmedit with VCD checked and the resulting clip properties say YES to VCD ready
and then I write to CD with NTICD Maker
using the VCD wizard and write a MEGAV.Dat file which I understand is all ok up to that point but the damm thing does not play back properly. It plays very slowly on mediaplayer only .
The iFilmedir clip propertys are as follows.
                      System mux rate : 158700
                      Pic Height : 288
                      Pic Width : 352
                      Video bitrate(Mbt/sec : 0.9996
                      Audio bitrate (Kbt/sec) : 224
                      Audio mode : Stereo
                      Audio Layer : Layer 2
                      Audio Sample rate : 44100
                      VCD ready : Yes
The Question is what not right with the above

                        Cuddles,

Since you are all leaving me behind (big change there then), I can't see what is wrong with your setup. Hope someone can help out soon.

But I can see what is wrong with Vicky's setup. No legal version of (your favourite utility).

Hey, if you want to pirate software, please don't come here asking how to make the damned stuff work. Warez is warez, we is not !

                            Getting bock OT

I have had problems with NERO (4.0.75) It generated a disk image and burnt it out to CD but when trying to play it back it was terrible. VERY BLOCKY over only 1/2 screen with the rest black and the sound was skipping.

The sames files burnt fine on Adaptec's Easy-CD Creator (3.50c)

I did notice that on the Panasonic's MPEG encoder site their is a disclaimer that 'valid' VCD MPG files won't burn correctly with NERO - it doesn't say why or haw to get over it.

I use this encoder for MPG as I think it produces the best quality output.
