  • MPEG-1 w/Premiere?

Yes, I have a lot of questions. I've been trying to find other websites on video editing on the computer, and have had very little sucess. Anyone know any good links?

Second Question: I know MPEG-1's are universal and wonderful, but do they work for editing? I'm pretty sure no... so then what is a good format to use for editing? AVI?

Also, does MPEG-2 work in Adobe Premiere 5.1? Can I use this format to edit videos?

Any type of answer would help greatly!

    Hi,
I tried to edit an MPEG1 file in Premiere 5.1. It works. I have the XingMPEG plugins, but I don't know if it is absolutelly necessary. I edited a 10 min clip from the movie "The Rock" saved & converted to .MPG, clipped, transitions, export etc. Worked fine. Some system locks at the beginning, but not caused by the .MPG (I hope...)
    MPEG2? I never tried.
It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings...

      MPEG-2 doesn't work natively with Premiere 5.1
Most capture cards capture to AVI in MJPEG format which is a good format for editing and this does work with Premiere.
