  • BIOS Resolution?

I've got an old Sony GDM-20D10 monitor sitting here that I'd like to be using as my primary display. Unfortunately, it needs a relatively high sync to function properly (1280x1024 works, 1024x768 may, I'm not sure). Anyway, my question is, does anyone know of a way to modify the BIOS so it starts in a higher resolution? I know there's at least one higher text based resolution (it's 1100 or so by something in the 700's I think).

Otherwise, I think I'm just going to forego the BIOS screens and tell Linux to switch the resolution when the kernel loads.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

If you have the source code of your mobo's BIOS and have some experience in programming machine language and assembler, you can do it.

You would rather need to rewrite some portions ov video BIOS. In short: not possible. Well, you may try some of the experiments described on my website (address in profile). Look up the section on nonVGA monitors.
