  • Matrox Win2000 Drivers vs. the Competition

There are a number of posts regarding the lack of refresh rate adjustment available on the current Win2000 Matrox drivers. For the most part, I'd concur.

However, I wasted the weekend test driving the latest ATi Rage Fury Pro (w/ the ATI Rage 128 Pro chip). Image quality overalll has greatly improved. However, if you REALLY love getting STOP errors, get this card. The drivers are worse that Shaq's freethrow shooting ability.

Matrox, although somewhat slow at including all features, defintely writes very solid. drivers.

Still deciding if I should upgrade from a G400SH to G400 MAX.

Isn't the G400SH a 16MB card? I'm almost sure it is because I got one of these for my sister. Unless you're into 3D games. You probably won't see much of a difference. Of course, I say that and I upgraded to my MAX from a vanilla G400DH just on the principle of it! I've seen some really good prices for the MAX lately. I guess it just depends on whether or not you're so inclined.
