  • WHQL/Unified/latest Drivers? Whats the dif?

    just like the subject stated:
what is the difference between all the different drivers?

And what is the Unified Bios Drivers?

WHQL = Certified by Microsoft. Usually the most stable, but slowest drivers.

Unified = Drivers for many Matrox cards in one package. Not the latest, and not always WHQL certified.

Latest = Latest and greatest. Not certified. Not always the most stable. Faster than WHQL certified in most cases.

Go with either WHQL or latest, depending on if you want tested stability, or cutting(bleeding) edge drivers....

Depends. What do YOU want to do?

          Gamer?

          Video processing?

          Do your taxes????

          Spreadsheets and graphics programs?

If anything but the first item, the WHQL will probably be all you need. Plenty of stability, and no oddities. The "latest" are for performance pushers who want the best performance out of 3d games and high performance software like high end CAD and such.

It's always a good idea to run on the latest unified BIOS (Basic Input Output System) just to avoid conflicts with new hardware and such, but if it ain't broke, don't feel obligated to fix it.
