  • G400Max dislike AGPx2

    I got the following FPS w/ G400max and aopen ax6bcpro and copper500e(ovclocked 667MHz)
    <fsb133MHz w/ AGP x1 >
    800x600 1024x768
    54.87 42.76 at 32bit colour, Mid details
    30.9 21.1 at 32bit colour, Hi detais

    <fsb133MHz w/ AGP x2 >
    800x600 1024x768
    56.72 41.21
    32.44 20.85

    So for hi resolution and hi detail, AGPx2 makes not much difference and it makes even lower result at 1024x768!!

    Is there any side effect to set AGPx2?

    Sorry, I forgot the name of benchmark program.

    It is Unreal T.
    It makes an unreal result?
    Since Q3A makes an small difference at the same test even at 1024x764, but very small it was.

      I doubt you'll see any noticeable differences until the amount of textures present in the game exceeds your available onboard video memory.
      I have no problems playing UT on a 16mb board, so I doubt you'll see any 2x AGP gains with a 32mb board.

        This UBB stripped off some lines of mine to show the title of table.

        I used "<fsb 133 at agpx1> for the first table and <fsb 133 at agpx2> for the second table.

          Dongho,

          UBB didn't strip it, you just wrote a secret message

          (you might want to try it without the "is greater/is less" marks)

            This UBB again stripped off my lines, this time I used " " mark to preserve the brockets in both sides of the title.

            Anyway, The firs table is for "FSB 133 w/ AGPx1" and the second is for "FSB 133 w/ AGPx2".

            I'm using 64M PC100 ram(xxx..1H) of samsung(xxxIH faster than xxxGL) and aperture 64M.

            OK, I will try now to add more 64M and aperture 128M. It will be back soon.

              Sorry DarkSyd,
              I misunderstand what you said. So you mean I can see any differences when the game makes some enough textures?

              I used SPART demo w/ all advanced features ON to get the FPS, so it is not enough to make that much texture even all HQ set ON, you mean?

              Then what will be the best UT demo to measure AGP x2 difference? I have UTDemo and Killer and Phobia. But UTDemo and Phobia takes too long to finish test.

                I can get a reasonal result for Q3A for changing to AGPx2.
                So It means Q3A has more textures than UT when their all HQs set ON?

                  Sounds about right. There are a couple of levels on Q3 (DM9 was one I think) that have enough textures to force AGP texturing. You'll notice it immediately while playing.
                  From the sound of things, the UT demo you are using may have less textures in it than the Q3 demo.
