  • M3D and NT drivers

Anybody got any drivers for M3D (with Millennium II) on NT4? How about W2K?

Why is it a 'never will be'?
I too have an m3d on an older machine on my network, and I was just about to start poking around for WinNT or Win2k drivers.
      Please explain.

It is not going to happen because it is an old slow piece of hardware and the ROI (return on investment) of developing new drivers for NT4 or W2K is very low. I've got an M3D as well, and the box and web page list it as being supported only under W9X (or was it W95?). That's what you got.

Developing gaming video drivers never really took off with NT4. I won't even begin talking about all of the driver headaches that W2K is causing, but writing M3D drivers for W2K has got to be near the bottom of Matrox's "to do" list.

Because the chipset on that board was made by NEC and they(NEC)long ago dropped their support to Matrox for that chip.
