  • reloading removes shearing

I have been experiencing consistent shearing in Halflife in OGL. This is my only OGL application. Testing monitor/card refresh at all resolutions and from 85 down to 60 Hz with 5.41 and with the 5.20 drivers (vsync enabled and in D3D)showed that it wasn't a refresh rate issue. I loaded in an intel inf file for i440BX P3/AGP support and an .inf for the Viewsonic Monitor. Reinstalled 5.41 and Turbogl. If I load HL either as a new game or from a previous save, there are still 5 bands of horizontal shear. If I press Escape, and then reload the same previous save or restart the new game, the shear is gone and the game's graphics are rock solid. This has been consistent over four days and tested on over 100 starts. Game runs flawlessly at 1024X768X32. Does anyone have any insight on a possible hardware explanation for this situation? There are others who are having similar problems with HL, UT and Q3 and I am trying to find a common thread to our configurations. Thank you.
