  • SPD not found at DIMM(s) 1 2 3 4

    What does this mean?
I just installed the MarvelG400 and i get this in blinking white text in dos on start up
Before it...it says warning. I haven't had any noticeable problems with my comp...but better be safe than sorry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does your RAM have SPD? Probably supposed to. I'm not sure what this has to do with the graphics card, though.

      WHAT IS SPD? Thanks

What's wrong with you? It's obviously a computerese abbreviation for spuds. Throw some on the DIMMS. Going from one side of the keyboard to the other to type a full word is too much for some. Wasn't it obvious by mkaresh's post? <G>

          Serial Presance Detect

It's part of the PC100 spec. It contains info like type of memory and CAS, and your motherboard (BX chipset on up) can check the info and set itself accordingly.

Thanks for that bit...any idea of how i could fix this problem?
The only thing i can think of is take out the RAM and reinsert...maybe it wasn't in all the way...but who knows...

My Abit BX6v2 reports the same thing.
              'SPD not found DIMM 1'
RAM is PC100 6ns and I'm sure that it has SPD. Changed my RAM from DIMM 1 to DIMM 2, and the problam was solved.
It works just the same as before, perfect.

I have a chaintech 6btm, I have the same problem after installing g400. Also lost hardware monitoring in bios(blank screen on setup page). Had to flash bios to get it back. Still get SPD not found message.

so all of you people with this similar problem...what are the consequences if i do nothing about it? I haven't had any problems so i'm a bit reluctant (lazy) to do anything about it now without proper motivation. Thanks
