  • Image Quality on Win2k DVD

I'm currently using both Win98SE and Win2k, and I've come to notice something about the Windows 2000 DVD playback. The image quality is substantially inferior to what I see when using the same program (in this case, WinDVD2k) to watch the same movie while under Windows 98. I'm not even sure how to describe it. The frame-rate is fine, it's just that the images (especially text) look much more jagged in Win2k. Is there a reason for this? I'm using all the default settings. Is it a driver issue? Win2k issue?

It might, but it doesn't seem like a driver related issue. I don't know why; it just doesn't feel like one...

I've experienced this with both the NT4 drivers as well as the BETA Win2k.

Overall, it feels like the support for DVD playback in Win2k is just a hack. Ah well...I might have to stay with a dualboot system for awhile to come
