  • G400 Reg entries?

Hi all...What are the default settings on the G400, and where in the registry are they?

I want to try the reg hacks, but would like to know what is actually on or off first.

Also, is there a good site that gives a description of the 3D options, with how each one actually affects games?

    Thanks

not sure what the hack changes but you can find your current ones here.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox

    there may be others.

Most of the important settings are found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Display\0000 , you should almost never (if ever) have to mess with the ones in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Matrox. Also, if you want to see what the defaults are before applying changes, use PD5ResManager, it should be on the MURC DL page. It will allow you to change settings just as the reg hacks will.

If you "right click" on the reg hack and choose modify (or edit), you will be able to see exactly what the reg hack is adding/changing to the .../display/0000 location.
Be aware that your Matrox board may not be at 0000 -- it could be at 0001 or 0002 (you can find out by checking the registry). If this is the case, you need to modify the reg hack to point to the correct location (such as .../display/0001)

Thanks guys...Beezer, you saved me some head scratching! (0000 is the standard vga adapter for me)

None of the items in the reg hack are in my registry, though. Does this mean that they are not enabled? What are these "hidden" registry entries reg hack refers to?

          Thanks

Is the registry entry the same for win2k?

To be honest, I don't really know much about the registry stuff. The way I understand it (and I could be wrong) by using the hacks you're adding those specific commands into the registry -- in other words, "forcing" the operating system to do what you tell it instead of figuring it out for itself.

The only thing I used the reg hacks for so far is to force AGP to 1X (for stablility reasons).

There's a lot of info on earlier threads in this forum....
