• 3dmark 2000 benchmark

Hi everyone,

i have a question concerning benchmarks

my system is:

epox EP-58mvp3c-m 512 kb cache
amd k6-III 450
matrox g400
soundblaster 16
quantum fireball 4,3 GB UDMA

when i run the default benchmark i have a score of 1609 in 3dmark 2000 .

1024x768 16 bit 16 bit z-buffer triangle

is this a normal result???
i tried it with lower resolution but the results were only lower .

i have the idea that it is a little bit slow, but maybe i am wrong.

can anyone post his results so i can compare??

thx

i get only 1201 marks!!!
and my cpu is only 50mhz slower

but when i set CPU-optimization to "software T&L" instead of "3Dnow" i get a score of 1350 !!!

this is very strange!

Surf, not really, he has a K6-3 and you have a K6-2... there is more of a difference in them than just mHz effecting those #'s.

don't worry, those seem like logical numbers. i was kind of disappointed with the numbers of my G400MAX with a P3 500. check out my review and take a look at the 3DMark 2000 benchmarks. i guess that it is just a very intense program...

My system is an Epox MVP3G-M, 1mb L3 cache, with an AMD K6-III 450, 256mb PC-100 SDRAM, Fujitsu 4.3Gb harddrive, Matrox G400-Max graphics card, and a PCI-128 soundcard.

My 3DMark2000 score is 1632. No matter, the performance in games is outstanding!

akhem...

seems like magister is pretty pissed off

Heh people... stop worrying about your 3DMark scores... it's a sucky benchmark, though it looks nice... best benchmark is still how you feel when playing your favorite game...

Hey guys !
Look at this :
With a simple Marvel g200 overclocked (powerstrip, graphics clock 112 MHz),
K6-2 450 MHz, 64 MO
3DMARK2000 (800*600*16, 16)= 1300 !!!
I laugh of your way of optimising your g400 !

I've done a few more runs with my new system. I'll post the results in case anyone is interested.

See system in signature.

I posted some results earlier, but have since reduced clock speed from 692 to 667 (to allow RAM to be set at 3-2-2 and to provide more margin for stability) and changed the G400 from 138/184 to 144/180.

Why this setting? Although my RAM has little white stickers on it with a number ending in -5, it gets cranky around 184.

The overclocked AGP bus is also a bottleneck. At 700mhz/140mhz fsb/93mhz AGP the system locks up when running 3dmark 2000. So to protect my wonderful card, I've decided to run the system at 667/144/180. If only this board had a 1/2 AGP multiplier!

End result of change in settings: 3dmark2000 went from 3018 to 3020, CPU speed from 205 to 202. I achieved a high of 3077 at 692/146/183, but that seemed to be pushing the limits of my G400. I had one white horizontal line during the test.

Bone stock results (500/125/166): 2461,151

Finally, to compare to older posts and eliminate the effects of T&L in 2000, I ran 3dmark99Max at some speeds (mark, CPU mark):
667/144/180: 7004, 10801
692/137/183: 7090, 10996
692/144/180: 7097, 11056

I actually found the 99 benchmark harder on the card than the 2000. Both the graphics processor and RAM reached their limits a few mhz sooner.

I love this system!

Forgot to check the signature box, so here's the system:
PIII 500e oc'd to 667
Soyo +IV, Iwill Slotket II
G400 32 DH @144/180
128MB PC133 Kingmax SDRAM
