  • Win98, Dual Monitor, PD5.25-No more OpenGL ICD ?

    Hi,

I stuck an old S3 card in my system, attatched a second monitor and all works great!

But now no games (Quake2/Quake3) detect the OpenGl ICD ?

I went to www.glsetup.com and it installed PD 5.30....still same, actually PD 5.30 DIDN'T CRASH Q2 anymore, definate signs that my OpenGL ICD is not working.

Now i'm back on 5.25 ( i did a FULL clearout of any old drivers)...and it's still the same

Gonna try taking the S3 out now....

    Strange stuff.. any ideas ?

    my system

    P3-500
    128meg ram
    QDI Brillianx 1s 2000 mobo

    10 gig fujitsu
    9 gig AV Micropolis

    AGP Marvel G200 > 17" iiyama
    PCI S3 Virge > 15" crystalscan

    Adaptec 2940u SCSI card
    SCSI CD-ROM

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hey,

    Problem solved!

I went into display properties and disabled the second card temporarily.......then the OpenGL is picked up in games, not sure if apps are gonna be the same though, that'll be a pain if it is.

This is a known limitation of Winblows 9x. OGL only works when only one desktop is running. Same with DualHead G400s. While with the TurboGL, you can have multiple desktops, if using the full ICD, it will not work if multi-mon, extended desktop is used...

        Hey,

        That's a bummer....

Although i tried this and it worked.

Disabled second display, ran Quake2 (in a window) then enabled second display, Quake2 still runs !
