  • OVERCLOCKING

    I have a G400 DH 32mb (NOT the MAX)
    without a fan.
I want to know how others overclocked this and their thoughts on it.

    and how (ex. 400/2.5/2/2.5 )

What type of fan is installed on the MAX'es.

    Are they from plastic/metal.
    How big ?
Do they blow towards the chip or away from the chip ?
    How are they attached ?

Hope somebody can answer these questions.

Hey Cyber, here's the info about the fan on the MAX card.

It's manufactured by AAVID, made from metal and plastic, and blow towards the heatsink.
Also, because of the use of this fan, the heatsink is also much smaller, about 3.5cm.
The heatsink/fan is attaches using two support pins on opposite corners.

I haven't o/c'd my MAX yet, but will do so in the near future, as soon as I get all the benchmarks from my fave games in.

      Hi there Cybernavy,

My G400 is the same as yours. I attached a Cooler Master fan to it using two BIG screws!!! I use MGA Tweak and set the FO to 300/2/1.5/2 and get MAX Speed!!! COOL!!! It has been running like that since August. So far so good!!

I have a G400 32MB DH with 6ns rated SGRAM, so MAX memory speeds are just out of reach for me. I'm running a conservative 285/2/1.5/2 on MGA Tweak. I know I can get up to 292/2/1.5/2 pretty stable, but I haven't tested extensively yet. I know that at 301.5/2/1.5/2 or whatever MAX spec is gives me horizontal lines on my desktop, so I've reached the limits of my memory. I'm gonna try adding heatsinks on the RAM to see if heat is the issue.

          this is what I've got...
removed the heatsink, installed a Tennmax fan/heatsink, chopped up the stock heatsink and frag taped them to the memory chips (both sides), installed a slot fan with plenty of intake air as well and got these settings very stable with no artifacts or crashes
