In my humble opinion, if you're running a lot of Glide-based games, go with the Voodoo3. If not, go with the G400. While (in my experience, at least) the Voodoo3 is not quite a finicky as the G400, the G400 is a better all around board. If image quality and features are the be all and end all, go with the G400.

Either way you decided to go, just don't install the drivers that come ship with the board.

If your primary interest is games by all means get a V3 3500. If you want something else (features, high resolutions, future game support) get a G400.
      Asus A7V, Duron 600@900, 192MB PC133@100, G200, Guillemot MUSE, etc.

Do not get the V3 3500TV for its video capture abilities - they suck big time.

Yeah, the G400 image quality is absolutely stunning. You won't know what you are missing in your other graphics cards until you get one. One of my friends who has a V3500 actually returned his card to get a G400 after seeing mine. The V3500 is faster at some stuff, but only 16-bit image quality and it loses sharpness at resolutions over 1280x1024. Definately go for the G400, your eyes will thank you

IMHO, the g400 is no slouch for gaming.

Check some of the threads concerning game framerates. Even OGL games are more than acceptable. I can get 70+ in q2 at lower resolutions, and 50+ at higher.

                    I haven't benched Q3A demo yet, but I've been playing quite acceptably at 1024x768x32 with 16bit z.

I try not to say "get this card, you'll love it", since I don't know what you will love.

But, I sure do love my g400.
