  • Any experience with S-VCD?

I am very interesdted in the S-VCD format. It seems to be a video-cd format with enhanced mpeg settings, to get a better picture quality (and somewhat less recording time).

Does anybody have any experience with this format? Can any of the available commercial mpeg-renderers generate compliant mpeg files? Which parameters should be used (resolution, interlaced y/n?)

A brand-new freshly minted set of the SVCD authoring tools are up at the Philips Licensing site:

    http://www.licensing.philips.com/

Once on the site lick on NEW SYSTEMS in the menu. This should take you to the Super Video CD page.

Everything you need is on this page. The tools require WinNT4 to run.

I downloaded some of these files until I realised that I'd have to pay $500 to get a serial number -which is alledgedly required for installation..

SVCD is often a topic over at www.dvdutils.com
Most useful. Also try a search for Oleg's DVD site, it's most informative.

As I understand it, SVCD is based around an interlaced picture 352 x 576 or so. Kind of half mpeg2.
