Why Matrox 9x 5.41 and 5.30 PD don´t work with G200 16 SGRAM ?!!

Hi all
I have in my comp. a Matrox Millenium G200 16 SGRAM in a Fic PA-2013 ATX 1Mb cache on board
I tryed to install 5.30 and 5.41 PowerDesks in my Win98 and crashs all the time.
I have instaled again 9x 5.25 version, works damm good. Anyone might know why dont they work?!!

Matrox Millenium G200 16 SGRAM 133/100 MHz

BIOS: (1.15ji37 pa-2013 pcb2.0)
AGP x2 enable
AGP Aperture: 128

If you check on the faq section on FIC page for your mobo there is something you need to disable.. something let CPU write buffer... oh well i don't relly remember but it's worth checking

PD v5.30 gives you a BSOD when used with the combo of a G200 and a VIA based MB.

PD v5.41 has a bad powerdesk which consumes all your CPU when run with a G200.

The solution is to copy all the PD* files from the w9x_525 directory into the w9x_541 directory, then run the setup in w9x_541. This gets you the powerdesk which works (the old one) with the drivers that work (the very newest one).

Us g200 users are still SOL when it comes to the TurboGL though. I hope they eventually backport some of those optimizations into the g200 drivers, but am not holding my breath.

I got the same problem but I managed it to work:

Force the AGP to 1x... (using the registry hack)

This was solving allmost my problem (GPF, BSOD, etc...) with 5.30 & 5.41. (I still get stuck with the CPU eating of the pdesk.exe of the 5.41).

The setting the bios that you need to disable on that board according to FIC (my g400 and same mobo work fine with it enabled) is cpu to pci write buffer and its in the PNP/pci config menu in the bios (i think thats what it is called haha sorry) Hope this helps
