        ok, time to start penis comparr..err, I mean benchmark comparisons. I will be the first to hang out my meat

        at the default settings(1024x768 16bbp 16bbp Z) on my p3 550 and G400 at 160/200 I scored just over 2600. At 1024x768 32bbp and 32bbp Z my score 2306

          hehehe Not that this is blazing speed, but.. my G200 at the default res settings, ie 1024x768x16 etc. I get 919 marks.. pretty pathetic...
          at 800x600, more in the fill rate range, I get 1204 marks...

          this is on a P2-434 (124Mhz FSB), 128Mb SDR, Asus P2B, G200 16Mb SGR, 5.41 Pdesk.

            2626 with my P!!! 450@558 and G400 MAX (default speed) at default settings - 1024x768x16, T16, Z16, TB

            ... and a HUGE increase to 2633 when I overclock my MAX to 160/213

            in Win2000:
            std max clock: 2573
            MAX @ 160/213: 2597

            What is interesting is that the CPU speed test was MUCH faster in win2000. I'm thinking maybe the win2000 driver isn't as optimized as the win98 one is, and in the near future we'll see the w2k scores beat out the w9x ones..

              My kickass MAX give me:
              640x480 = 1427
              800x600 = 1422
              1024x768 = > forgot to put it down because of the shock from the result...-_-
              1280x960 = 1378

              All are in 16bit rendering and 16bit texture.

              Hmmm.......very interesting result.....only slight differences between the resolutions.....

              I notice the CPU Optimization option is D3D software T&L...maybe it's the reason slowing down my system. I wonder if the 3DMarks takes favor in GeForce's hardware T&L.......or would a K7 or PIII speeds up my scores much?

                Im getting 1820 3dMarks2000.
                It seem its time for me to buy a new CPU and the cheapest option should be to buy the last 440BX intel cpu, the PIII 800Mhz!

                  ok, did some more w2k vs w9x benchmarks:
                  CPU Speed:

                  Win9x: 156 CPU 3D marks
                  Win2K: 176 CPU 3D marks

                  also, I noticed that under w2k that bumpmapping doesn't work properly (1-pass and environmental(??)) so I re-ran my win9x without bump mapping, and the results were a little lower, 2622 (MAX @ 160/213)

                    I have a feeling that 3dMark2000 is to much
                    GeForce biased and specially when its uses hardware T&L.On the other hand as i just checked on 3dFxvoodoo forums ,the poor 3dfx users have just realised that they have bought the wrong brand .

                        Just wondering, is any one having the same problem as i am.
                        in the helecopter demo, the terrain flashes in different colours when those benchmarks are playing.

                            well answered my own question not that it makes me any happier DAMN another driver bug this is from 3dmark2000 support page

                            3DMark2000 FAQ - Matrox 3D Accelerators
                            Matrox G400 Series

                            Q: The fogging in Game 1 - Helicopter landscape is too bright on Matrox G400 A: Matrox G400 5.30 driver does not handle the material correctly and therefore applies the fogging twice which makes the landscape to fog white instead of the sky color.

                            Q: The landscape texture in Game 1 - Helicopter flashes with different colors
                            A: Matrox G400 5.30 driver has probably a bug when rendering the landscape.
