  • feckin' tv output in dualhead

tried multi desktop thing, dvd max and desktop clone into a TV and still the bloody thing won't work... any other _UK_ g400 MAX users got it going can give me some tips??? The monitor settings for TV output says it's 60 Hz when (as far as I'm aware) UK tv's work on 50 Hz (well, 25 Hz interlaced anyway) so could this be screwing it up?

I think that might be your problem. Im in USA but our tv run on 60 Hz ( 30 interlaced). Now the way it figures out refresh for tv's is based on the electrical current. Whats the voltage again, 230?

Have you also selected PAL under Dual head for your TV? If the rest is giving you problems can you make Clone mode work?

the voltage here is 240 volts...

yes it is set for a pal tv
and clone mode doesn't work, nothing works, i just get a totally screwed up screen like i'm watching channel 5 or something

it doesn't help that the controls to set the refresh rate only appear on the tv screen i'm trying to configure, except of course i can't see it!!!

I have a similar problem, it seems that the PD settings got mucked up when I upgraded to 5.41, what version PD are you using and is it the only version thats been on your system?

Also mine is only mucked up at 1024x768, its fine at 800x600. Try it at lots of different resolutions and see if anything changes.

I haven't had a chance to check it out as I only just got my machine running after a week of forced rest (my poor old bh6 died after discovering why high current dc is so dangerous. Oh well it gave me the excuse to go out and get a be6 mmmm 4 channels of IDE.....)

some more information would be helpful. What cables are you using, what tv is it, what is your system, have you got the tv out plugged in the right head?

okey dokey, mine's a 266MHz celeron processor running at 400MHz (tee hee) on a 100MHz motherboard, 128MB SD-RAM, 5 gig HDD, G400 MAX, so on, so on, running win98, nothing that should screw up the output just to a TV. I got the 5.30 powerdesk, upgraded from 5.13; going back to the refresh rate thing I tried using a monitor to set it to 50Hz then swapping the cable into a TV and it still won't work so i guess that's not the problem. I'm using the standard phono tv ariel type wire and the splitter thing they supply with the card. the guy on the matrox helpline reckons the only possibility could be a screwed up cable (the splitter thing since the cable works fine for other stuff) so they're sending me a new one, but i dunno. Admittedly the cable (between splitter and tv) is from an Amiga but it should surely be the same sort of signal if it's going straight into the tv??? and i've tried like 4 tv's now so that's not an issue...
