• Newbie-Questions: G400

Hi

I recently replaced my TNT 1 card with a Millennium G400 SH (16MB SG RAM) running on my PII 450 (128MB PC100 RAM, Win98SE) and would like to get some information about it:
1.) What is the default mem/core speed?
2.) What are the possible "safe" settings for both?
3.) Which overclocking utility is advisable?
4.) How does it compare against a TNT2 card (was my decission for a G400 right? - please be honest!)
5.) What's the state of OpenGL (I'm using PowerDesk 5.41 right now)
6.) When I'm running my Windows desktop at 24 bit, is it possible for games to use 32 bit anyway?
7.) Is there anything else I should know about the G400?

Thanx in advance for your answers

Hi !
Wellcome aboard ! @ first: G400 needs quite a puch from cpu to run fast so i suggest you to oc you cpu. Then:
1) core 126/166 mem (if i remember right later)
2.)you should get quite easily 150/200, but i suggest you to oc your card a little by little.
3.)Mgatweak or matrox twaek utility, you can download both from www.murc.ws or from www.g200.com.
4.) OGL is slower in lower resolutions but when you use higher resolutions g400 is equal or faster.
5.)still under developing, but it works quite ok.
6.)not sure, i think you can. just set colordepth from game.
7.)Read these forums and you get a lot of usefull information.
