  • Win2k + G400 + Q3 Fix!

Ok, kinda off-topic (Kruzin don't kill me), but I thought you might like to know that the lastest build of Win2k fixes most of the problems with Quake3, as well as a whole slew of other things. So, all you whiners - it's not the G400 drivers, it's the OS!

The build I'm referring to, for your edification, is 2194 Professional. It's NOT publicly available.

So quit yer whining already! Heh.

        Gurm,

Are sure about this? I only have RC3 (MS finally decided to post it on MSDN) but as part of the Windows Readines Program, MS have told us that 2194 is just a last quick check of some drivers not included RC3. I would be very surprised if they have actually changed any of the DX or OpenGL sub-systems - they may very well break more than they fix!

You can download it from (with ftp):

          ntbeta.microsoft.com/outgoing/nt5/buildXXXX

where XXXX substitutes the newest builds.

But ofcourse you need the right login and password

Has anyone tried the new driver updates available at Windows Update? Have these made any difference to the Q3 performance?
I would try them, but I am away from my PC at the mo ...

Many of the problems that were fixed were actually conflicts between mouse and DirectX, etc.

I can honestly say that it SEEMS as though they may have improved/tweaked at least DirectInput, if not all of DirectX.
