  • Millennium G200 on AGP x 2

    Hello,

Acc. to specs the Millennium G200 card is able to run on AGP x 2. How can I check if AGP x 2 is really used?

I use a ASUS P2B motherboard with the intel 440BX chipset. Can it cope with AGP x 2?

Does it make a lot of difference anyway having AGP or APG x 2?
    Regards,

    Matt

    1. Go to the MURC (link at bottom of this page), and d/l PCIlist from the utils page. This util will tell you what SGP mode you are in.

    2. Yes. I never had any trouble getting 2x on my G200/P2B combo.

    3. No. Realistically, it makes almost no difference at all. 2x only reffers to AGP texture swapping, not overall card speed. Since almost nothing uses AGP textures, the difference between 1x and 2x will only be seen in static benchmarks with large AGP texture tests.

Ok, I checked my system with PCI list.
It reports that both the Millennium G200 and the ASUS P2B is AGP x 2 capable. It also indicates that AGP x 1 is active. How do I put the system on AGP x 2? (I tried clicking the ckeckbox, no result).

        Regards,

        Matt

Depending which driver you're using you can either edit your registy settings to force AGP X2 or apply the PD5.xx hacks that are availible for download from this site.

Haven't had to force X2 with by G200/P2B/PII combo though.

          Cheers

            Hi Matt,

you will see a difference in artificial benchmarks like 3DMark when you use those big texture rendering tests ...

I guess some of the newer games (UT, Q3) would also benefit as soon as the texture consumption exceeds the local onboard gfx-memory.
