  • m3d worth it? or any suggestions?

Hey Hey!! of course as you know from my other post i have a Millenium II video card right at the moment. Since the card doesn't support OpenGL for games and such(unless i'm wrong(correct if so)), i'm thinking about getting an add-on or a another card. I've been looking at the M3D. has anyone used this card before and is it worth it? any suggestions? thanks in advance!!!

I have 4 things to say in response:

    1. NO
    2. NO way!!
    3. HELL NO!!!
    4. Look around the net, you can find SH 16MB OEM G400's (like I have) for under 120 dollars, you would be wayyyyyyy better off. Or even find a G200, they can be found for 60 bucks now.

I ran one with my MillenniumII a couple years ago. The card is now in a freinds 5-year-old's 486, and hardly getting used there.

For todays games, it's not worth the PCI slot it would occupy. It's D3D support is marginal, and it's OGL...well there is no OGL. A couple of games have OGL wrappers available for it, but they really don't work worth a crap.

You'd be better of finding a $30 Voodoo2 (they are out there), if you are looking for a super-budget solution.

          No don't do it!

Avoid the M3D (and other PowerVR cards for that matter).

As mentioned above D3D ability sucks and OGL is non-existant. Well I suppose you could play Quake2 in PowerVR mode.......

If you want an add-on 3D card get a Voodoo2.
