  • G400 questions

    I just installed my MAX last night, and the thing is absolutely amazing!
    I do have a couple questions though. First, I am having problems getting Expendable to run. It starts loading (black screen) then kicks out back to the desktop. This occurs in a bunch of resolutions that I've tried. I know this was discussed a while ago, but I forget what the fix was.
    Also, about overclocking. Is my best bet just to bump the PLL clock up and see how far it can go, or should I lower the PLL and change the dividers? Right now I'm at 318 PLL for 159 graphics and 212 mem clocks and still rock solid. Duty cycle correction is also set to manual.

    Thanks in advance

    There have been some discussion here to enable SGRAM Optimisation settings as stated in the Help file. Try that and you might see some more performance boost...

    Mine : FO=300MHz = 150/200MHz mem/core

        wow.. core to 200? GuessI'll hav eto try that and see what happens.

        I think I'll do 300PLL with 1.5,1.5,1.5 for 200mem and core and see if it can take it.

          Iskandhar ment core to 150 and mem to 200.
          But you already knew that.

          Don't try the core to 200, or we'll see you in here posting something like "Toasted my MAX, help please".

          I have a question for you rylan what are the default clock settings for the MAX ?
          I've o'clocked my vanilla by 20% with Matrox's utility and runs stable.
          MGA Tweak says Fo=303.75 Mhz
          Graphics clock: 151.88 Mhz
          Memory clock: 202.50 Mhz
          Warp clock: 151.88 Mhz
          so how close am I to MAX default ?

            Hey, yeah, the core doesn't like 200. Actually, it seemed more like the WarpClk didn't like the 200, since the 2D went nutz at that. So I tried 200 core and 150 warp with 200 mem. Ran for 10 min in a 3D game before crashing. heheheh. Was kinda cool though. I guess the thermap paste I put betwen the fansink and the chip helped. Seems like I can run my MAX up to 216 mem before I get sparkles from the sgram overheating, or up to 174 core befire that shows problems. Guess I need to put some sinks on the memory :P I'll do that over winter break in a couple weeks.

            Andrei, about the max default speeds, it is as follows

            PLL = 301.5MHz
            GClk = 150.75MHz
            MClk = 201MHz
            WClk = 150.75MHz

            with 2, 1.5, 2 dividers, respectively
            Sounds like you've hit MAX speeds!

            Currently my MAX is at 324PLL for 162Core and 216Mem

              Thanks rylan, just see that you don't overcook your MAX !
