  • DvD " Looks like its developed a stutter " on tv that is!!

    Hi people

I need help in curing my tv of a stutter :]

I dont mean to sound mad but when I play dvd threw my T.V. it gets jerky for a few seconds then it clears up for a while then it returns periodically through out the film and it really gets on my nerves:[ :[ :[

Has or is anyone else experiancing this phenomanon.

    My setup is as follows

    G400 MAX
    P3 450 running at 630 mhz (140 fsb) 2.0v s-code SL35D Costa Rica (oem)
Alpha P3 125c Copper Embedded heatsink
    Abit BE6 Motherboard
128 mb pc 100 sdram (my lucky dimm)
    17.3gb Fujitsu h\d Udma 66
    21"Sony monitor
    SB Live Value
    Diamond Super Express 56i Modem
    Pioneer 10X DVD Drive
    Supermicro SC-750 full tower case

I use the win dvd 2000 player as I have found it to produce better picture quality :]

The thing is I don't get any problems with dvd when I watch it on my desktop,It only happens when I use dual head.

I am using top quality phono cables so I don't think that can be at the route of this problem, and I cannot think of a program running in the back ground of my pc is it either. Please help !!!

    Regards Matt {:O)

This happens with DVDMax enabled. doesn't it?

I have the exact same problem...while the DVD output on the monitor is great, it stutters on the tv.

      Try a different engine?

I am having the same thing also. It didn't do this originally. I don't know why it started. I haven't installed the new drivers I'm still on 5.30. All I can remember that changed was installing Intellimouse explorer, which I shut off, still happened. And the windows updates.

This has occured to me also - only after I installed 5.41

Damn shame as everything else is working better than with previous drivers.

Hmm, I thought it was just me as well.

I get a similar problem when I use DVD-Max in PAL mode, but it is fine in NTSC. It doesnt matter what region the DVD is either NTSC just plays smooth and PAL doesnt.

It never used to do this on mine with the original drivers either

            -Xizor.

The stuttering happens with every Cinemaster decoding engine I tried (both the 1.0.29 and the latest 2.0.36).

Hi, this is all heresay, as I have not verified the solution (I do not have any NTSC DVD's at hand now)

                1) If it happens when you watch PAL movies on NTSC or NTSC movies on PAL

                2) THEN

the solution shuold be to enable the "soft interlace" option for the "surface flip Mode" in DVD region selector of via a registry hack for the Cinemaster engine.

The key for the Matrox version at least is in
                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Quadrant International, Inc.\Software Cinemaster\0.9\Display]

                The key and value are
                "SurfaceFlipMode"=dword:00000005

This may require a fairly fast processor to be applicable, with a slow one you may have even worse stuttering. (It did not work on my previous K6-2, have not tried it with my current Athlon, yet)

Of course if 1) above does not apply, then this would not help anyway.

                M.

                Addendum, edited later---

---Oops--- finally tried this myself, did not seem to work. Well, if it works for somebody, I guess it is OK
