  • G400 max RAMDAC speed

Once I use the matrox tweak utility to overclock my G400 card, Is there any other
utilities out there that can determine if
it is truly running at the new speed ? Rob_b

PS. Your not over clocking the RAMDAC. you are ocing the chip and the memory. Just for refrence. You dont o'c RAMDAC. : )

You really shure that G400MAX chip is different to G400?
        Calculate it: G400_Ramdac * G400MAX_Chip_Clk/G400_clk
        300*150/125=360 !!!
It is G400 RAMDAC clock. Strange? Bu I think that Matrox calculate RAMDAC speed not on signal bandwith, but on RAMDAC clock only
A lot of people think that quality of G400MAX image is not better than Millenium II with _external_ TexasInstr. RAMDAC with 250MHz...

Im pretty sure RAMDAC is indepenent of Core Speed and memory. How else do explian the fact that the MAX creates much higher resolutions at higher refresh...

360 or 300 MHz is a RAMDAC clock LIMIT. Most of us mortals never reach this limit (360 MHz is needed for 2048x1536 @ 85 Hz, while 1600x1200 @85Hz needs just 230 MHz).

More explanations at my website (address in profile).
