Have you checked does your system now agp 2x ... If I remember correct, it was disabled with aliagp 1.60 ... If it is 2x try forcing it to 1x ... and there was that agp turbomode-setting in bios too.. is it enabled or disabled ? That ALi-chipset i not really any example of stability ....

    ali agp v1.65e & G400

    Hello,

I've had systematic crashes while running UT or HalfLife after I have installed the new ali agp v1.65e drivers on my asus P5Ab. These drivers are supposed to support G400.
Did someone encounter the same problems ?

    this is my configuration:

    Asus P5Ab (bios 1007a)
    K6 III 450 (4,5 x 100 FSB)
    128 SDRAM PC 100
    Ali AGP v1.65e
    G400 32 Mo (power desk 5.30)
DD 4.6 Go Quantum Fireball SE
    CDRW Traxdata 4424
    CDROM Hitachi 8x
    SB PCI 64 (last drivers)
Trust Ethernet PCI 10 Mbits (desactivated)
ISA scanner card Guillemot Maxi A4
    IIyama 19"
    Windows 98 and DX7

This doesn't occur with Ali AGP v1.60 but with that driver and since powerdesk 5.30 is installed, UT often crashes with the message (critical error DDbit failed : KO).
I reinstalled all the drivers (DX7 and power desk 5.30) and it's the same old story !

It's very frustating to have a crash while being the leader on an online deathmatch tournament, isn't it?

    thanks anyway for any information.

I have almost the exact same system as you patE, and I have also installed the ali 1.65 drivers and have encountered no problems at all, although I haven't tried UT. I dont use pd5.30 however, because I read somewhere that this release was unstable with super7 mobos, and my own experiences support this theory. Try removing pd5.30 and install 5.25

      Specs:
      P5a mobo with bios 1007a
      k6-3 450
      128 mb sdram
      IBM 13.5 gb hdd
      g400 dh, 32mb
      v2 12mb
      SBLive Retail
      Pioneer 6x dvd-rom
      win 98 and dx7.0

btw after formatting my hdd (thanks microsux) my g400 defaulted to agp2x for the first time, and I have no problems of any kind
      System:
      Asus A7V rev. 1.01p bios 1011
      AMD Thunderbird 800
      SBLive retail with liveware 3.0
      Matrox g400 MAX pd 6.51
      LG Flatron 795FT 17" monitor
      IBM 13.5 GB 7200 hdd
      Pioneer 106-s dvdrom
      WinME
