  • PD 5.3 problem

    Hiya,
I have a G200,BIOS 2.3 on a FIC PA2013,PCB v1.2, BIOS 1.13, with K-6/2-350. I have the newest VIA drivers. Everything is working great with PD5.25. However, when I upgraded to PD5.3, as soon as I get into an accelerated 3D mode, does not matter if Direct3D or OpenGL, I get a BSOD with 'fatal exception in VXD G200VXD. Help anyone?

Also, if you have a similar config, please share with me your BIOS settings (Chipset Features especially). Do you run AGP 1x or 2x?
    My rig:
    FIC PA2013-1.2, AMD K6-2/350, 128MB PC100, G200 16 MB SGRAM, Tekram DF-390F SCSI UW, WD 13GB, Plextor 40MAX SCSI CDROM, Yamaha CRW4416 SCSI CD-R/W, MX300.

The 5.30 drivers have problems running with g200 and many super7 mobos.
This is a problem many of us with g200's and super7 boards have experienced.
Best stick with 5.25 and hope the problem is resolved with release of next drivers.

      Hi Numer,

I have an FIC VA 503+ with a G200 (and sometimes a G400) running in it. I have had no troubles at all with the G200 and PD 5.30 on this board, although I have had problems with other 503+/G200/PD 5.30 (weird thing is that these other boards also only run at 1X, while mine runs at 2X and has in most driver releases). The only thing I have out of the ordinary in my BIOS is "Read Around Write" is set to disabled. This is a must for this motherboard to work with either my G200 or G400. Also note that the G400 has not had any problems in any of the SS7 systems I have seen so far with PD 5.30.

            Hmm, I am wondering....
I haven't upgraded yet, since I have K6-2/350 so I would not probably benefit much. My BIOS is 1.13JF12. I am getting a K6-3/450 after the finals so I'll flash the BIOS then and see what happens. I don't want to do this in the middle of the semester just to discover that my rig won't boot anymore hehehe.
Anyway, I have always had the Write Cache Pipeline disabled 'cause my mach would crash, I enabled it now but turned memory settings from Turbo to Normal and it seems to work fine.

BTW: if I overclock with Powerstrip does it have to be active in SysTray? Or can I just set it and quit?

I am using the tweak utility from Matrox. I like MGA Tweak, but it has more features than I really need to clock mine where I want, so I just stuck with the keep it simple plan.
