  • TNT1 faster then G400?

her`s the story to the question,
    first i got a cel.466 in a asus p3bf with 128mb a tnt1(asusv3400) and an sblive plus a 3com pci networkcard.
no probs at all -especially my beloved unrealtournemant demo runs smooth in 1024X768.

    now i have:
    athlon 500
same 128mb ram stick as before
    asus k7m board(rev.104)
    g400 16mb sdram bulk
    sblive
    3com pci networkcard

the unrealtournament demo now stutters and has noticiable slowdowns. although i get high marks in 3dmark max(800X600=5400)
i use a new win 98se install. i have installed the amd agp patch, dx7, and newest powerdesk(=5.07).
i have the same problem wether the g400 shares an irq or not.
i would like to stay with my g400. so any help would be nice

    5.07?
The newest Powerdesk is much higher than that.
Do you mean 5.30.007? That is the most recent.

What IRQ are you using for the G400? It should be 9 or higher.

Are you running anything in the background when you have these slowdown (mobo monitors, etc). If so, try shutting everything else down before starting the game.

Is there a lot of hard drive accessing happening? Your swap file may need to be adjusted. I prefer to set a permanent swap file size, rather than let windows manage it.

Other Athlon specific tweaks will need to come from the Athon users
