  • Where have all the g400's gone?

Been tracking g400 prices lately, as I am considering an upgrade at some point.

    1) there have never been any matrox products in my area (mid-Michigan).

    2) Prices have been remarkably stable (lack of supply?).

    3) Several online vendors have stopped listin any matrox products on their web sites (buy.com and necx are most notable).

    4) Most who still advertise Matrox products are out of stock. One Vendor, Shopping.com http://store.shopping.com/store/prod...mpid=251210176
has an expected data of Jan 30, 2000.

    What's the story?

If your looking for g400's,might I suggest this site. They seem to have them all in stock excluding g400 max, naturally.
Good company, good prices, good shipping rates.Just click on 3d cards and I think Matrox starts on page 4,just search and you'll find them.
There prices usually come in as lowest on pricewatch http://www.sg3d.com/

but they don't have the g400max. I guess the only place for this is the matrox store, where I bought mine about a month ago.

Thanks for the link. I've actually seen them before.

My concern isn't actually finding one. With cnet, pricescan, pricewatch et al. its possible to track one down.

Rather, it's the delta in the supply that i'm noticing.

Also, there has been no supply in stores in michigan (greater lansing, including best buy, comp usa, cir. city, and about a dozen smaller shops).

So, I repeat, where are they going? Is it the big christmas buy up by oem's? Is Matrox doing a Y2K gear down? Are they just trying to keep tabs on supply?

          What gives?
