  • G400 MAX and CL DVD Decoder

I have a G400 MAX and got a Creative Labs PC-DVD Decoder Card for 10 bucks and i am planing on adding a slot load Pionear 6x DVD soon. Is there going to be a problem with trying to use this Decoder card with my G400. I figured there would be and if so ill just put it in my secondary system with my CL Banshee.
Anyone know if ive got a chance of this thing working? The Decoder Card is the same type that comes in the Creative DVD kits...

    I love this place

If the card is the Dxr3, it will work fine. I have one in my system and it worked fine with the hardware you mentioned.

have heard the first generation cards have problems.

Odds are, it'll work ... BUT don't bother.
For $10, that has to be the _original_ Dxr, which is a large pile of crap. It looks horribly pixelly, and software mode will look MUCH better. Go figure...

The Creative Dxr2 and Dxr3 offer superb quality when output to TV, but are worse than, for example, a G400's software decoding on the monitor screen.

Hmmm thanx. I think it is a 2nd gen one. i got 2 off ebay for $30 each, then sold one to a friend for $50. So there werent 10 each, its just what i ended up paying after reselling one. Sorry if that confused anyone.
